9 Iconic Female Friendships in Movies

I’ve said it once and I'll say it again - there is no bond stronger than one between a girl and her besties. These girls have seen each other laugh, cry, fight, annnnnnd plot a bad idea or two. So in honor of National Girls’ Night In Day, I’m highlighting 9 girl squads that have stood the test of time and have shown us that you’ve got great girlies on your side that will support you endlessly.

Pitch Perfect
Now this group of friends maaaaaay have started off a little rocky, but once everyone’s personality was understood, these Bellas were unstoppable. From taking first place at the ICCA finals to coming together in Becca and Fat Amy’s time of need, this friendship knows no bounds.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
Summer is a time where everyone is pulled in different directions between vacations, sports camps and running away with some hobbies. But for these four best friends, all it took was one pair of pants to help them keep in touch and keep their sisterhood as strong as it can be.

Sex and the City: The Movie
Samantha. Carrie. Miranda. Charlotte. These four NYC besties are navigating the work world, dating world, and life’s ups and downs the way they know how - by spilling their thoughts over cosmos. There’s nothing better than a girl squad that knows you better than you know yourself!

Barbie
Barbie is truly a girl’s best friend. She’s been with us through the highs, the lows, and even through the bottom of the toy box. The real story here is that even if we decide to grow up, we can always come back to the one girl that’s been by our side. And with this movie, we can have  just a giant blowout party with all the Barbies, and planned choreography, and a bespoke song whenever we like!

Girls Trip
College besties sound off! Sometimes you can fall out with your friends (for this group, it was five years), but when you get back together and nothing has changed, that’s when you know you’ve found your girls for life! And tbh, a trip to NOLA with your friends sounds like the best time to me.

Bridesmaids
Hands down this movie gives us the most unhinged, wild, and loving friendship of all time. Sure, these girls are forced into a friendship being bridesmaids for their common friend, but it makes their bond THAT more real. *cue Wilson Phillips - Hold On here for dramatic effect*

The Spy Who Dumped Me
Audrey and Morgan give us the modern day Thelma & Louise vibes that accurately portray friendship in the 21st century. These besties are always checking in with one another, complementing each other and we’re each other’s saving grace in the middle of absolute chaos. These besties would follow each other to the ends of the earth…or to Europe.

Clueless
Thankful for this 90s rom com for showing us that high school friendships are truly the best kind of friendships to exist. Between Cher, Dionne, and Taj, these three navigated the world of teenaged firsts together and formed a forever bond. Plus, their fashion instincts were unparalleled.

Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar
Two besties that enjoy zany clothes take a trip of a lifetime filled with adventure, love and a villain trying to kill their vibe. But one thing is for sure, when you’ve got your forever best friend by your side, there’s nothing that will break you apart.

Book Club
And i've saved the ultimate friendship for last - the one that has literally lasted a lifetime. These 4 besties are bonding together with the power of Christian Grey and navigating the next chapter of their lives in the most authentic way. And if you’re really invested in this friendship - you can set sail with the crew in Book Club: The Next Chapter.
