7 Iconic Rappers That Are Hollywood Stars

Turn the mic off and roll the film. While some musicians stay on stage their entire career, there are an elite few that have found much success when they moved into the Hollywood spotlight. So in honor of Hip-Hop Day, I’m highlighting 7 iconic rappers that have found themselves starring in some pretty great films!

Ludacris

First we start out with our franchise hero. Ludacris has taken the role of Tej Parker in the Fast & Furious saga since 2003. This street racer, mechanic AND technical expert took us all for a ride of our lives in 2 Fast 2 Furious and we haven’t pumped the brakes yet with him returning in Fast X. And if you aren’t into the whole street racing vibe, you can find him in Crash and Hustle & Flow too!

Machine Gun Kelly

Slotting into number two is MGK aka Colson Baker. The “My Ex's Best Friend” musician starred in the Redbox Entertainment Original, The Last Son, in 2021 and has continued to expand his acting roles since. You can also find him in films like Good Mourning and Midnight in the Switchgrass alongside Megan Fox!

50 Cent

The earliest memories of my childhood include me listening to 50’s Get Rich or Die Tryin' album while riding around town with my cousins. So with that, he obviously was making my list of iconic rappers that are making waves in Hollywood. If you aren’t up to date with his acting career, you’ll be able to see him in action in Escape Plan, Den of Thieves, and in the upcoming installment in The Expendables franchise, Expend4bles.

Ice Cube

If I say ‘Ice Cube’ and you aren’t thinking about the scene in 22 Jump Street where he figures out that Schmidt is dating his daughter, then you need to immediately schedule yourself a movie night. Ice Cube has been apart of dozens of comedy movies including Friday, Ride Along with Kevin Hart, annnnnd the entire Barbershop trilogy.

Ice T

Tracy Lauren Marrow aka Ice T has been in our lives since 2000 playing Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. 500 episodes strong with no chance of slowing down, Ice T has been immersed in the NY vibe for quite some time. But if movies are more your style, you can see him in genres like thrillers, drama and horror in Bloodrunners, Crossed the Line, and Leprechaun: In The Hood

Snoop Dogg

S-N-double-O-P. We can all agree that Snoop Dogg is one of the most famous rappers with his fame beginning in 1992. Since then, he’s released 19 studio albums with a new one coming soon! Until we can get a new album in our hands, you can find him doing iconic work in movies like The Addams Family 2, Training Day, and Starsky & Hutch. Fo' schizzle.

Queen Latifah

Rounding out the list of iconic rappers is the one and only, Queen Latifah. She’s been on the movie scene for quite some time with blockbusters like Hairspray and my personal favorite, Last Holiday. Since then, she’s grabbed her favorite gal pals Regina Hall, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinkett Smith and took an unforgettable getaway in Girls Trip (which has a sequel coming soon!).
