Put a Ring on These 7 Movies

It’s June, which means love is in the air. This month was named after the Roman goddess of marriage—Juno—after all. I guess my husband and I fell under her spell because we were married on June 28th and will be celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. So I’d say there's no better time than the present to celebrate weddings in the movies.

Whether you're getting ready to tie the knot yourself or simply looking for a dose of romance (or in some cases, comedy), these films are sure to inspire and entertain. From heartfelt comedies to unexpected cinematic couplings, here are some must-watch movies that will get you in the mood for love.

  • Maybe I Do Michelle (Emma Roberts) makes a big mistake by inviting her parents (Richard Gere and Diane Keaton) and her boyfriend’s parents (William H. Macy and Susan Sarandon) to meet each other … but it turns out they aren’t even remotely strangers. Check it out streaming On Demand for only $2.

  • Father of the Bride (2022) – A remake of the beloved 1991 rom-com starring Steve Martin and Kimberly Williams, which itself was a remake of the 1950 classic starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor, Father of the Bride (2022) gives us another take on the story of a father (Andy Garcia) coming to terms his daughter’s impending nuptials.

  • Marry Me – When a pop superstar, played by Jennifer Lopez (I know I know, it’s a big stretch), is left at the altar, she chooses a random fan from the crowd (Owen Wilson) to marry instead. It’s a ridiculous premise, but I assure you it’s a very sweet and cute movie with a rockin’ soundtrack!

  • 27 Dresses – Speaking of soundtracks, you’ll never get this movie’s “Benny and the Jets” scene out of your head after you see it—it’s that hilarious. Katherine Heigl is Jane, a perennial bridesmaid, and James Marsden is Kevin, a marriage cynic who might have an ulterior motive in pursuing Jane.

  • Bridesmaids – And speaking of bridesmaids …  we can’t leave out Annie (Kristen Wiig) as she navigates the role of maid of honor for her best friend's (Maya Rudolph) wedding. That of course involves a bachelorette party where things go hilariously awry. Don’t forget that this is the movie that made Melissa McCarthy a star!

  • Crazy Rich Asians – Far from the physical shenanigans of Bridesmaids is the extravagant world of Nick Young (Henry Golding), a wealthy Singaporean bachelor. When he brings his down-to-earth, American-born Chinese girlfriend and professor, Rachel (Constance Wu), home to meet his family, his mom (Michelle Yeoh) doesn’t exactly approve.

  • Wedding Crashers – For those seeking a more, um, outrageous spin on weddings, may I present to you Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as friends who spend their weekends attending weddings they aren’t actually invited to … which eventually gets them entangled in unexpected romances with two sisters who could not be more different, played by Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher.

  • Love Stories TV - And finally, if you're in the mood for real-life wedding inspiration, look no further than this free, extensive collection of actual wedding videos that showcase unique love stories and celebrate couples from around the world.
